From the early 1980’s Gerard Heffernan has be heavily involved in the catering industry. During his first 10 years working closely with hotel owners, managers and catering staff, Gerard devoted time to identify areas of the industry that were both time and financially costly, with the aim of finding alternatives for cost effectiveness. In the following 10 years Gerard was involved in supplying catering equipment to kitchens all over the country and was able to survey hotels, restaurants and bars – investigating their needs, in terms of time and cost efficiency.
The first cutlery polisher in Ireland
These 20 years of research and experience developed and become a well-designed thought-out business plan. In 1999 GH Enterprises was born with the introduction of the first cutlery polisher to Ireland. From 1999 to 2008 the business grew as the catering industry’s knowledge of the cost effectiveness of owning a cutlery polisher spread throughout the country.
Going strong even in a recession
In spite of over 47,000 Irish firms closing during the period of 2008-2013, GH Enterprises was still growing, albeit at a much slower rate. We at the GH Enterprises family believe that this continual growth, despite the circumstances in Ireland at the time, is down to our high quality products and our unmatched follow-up and maintenance service.
